About

Some run marathons, some run fifty meters. Some prefer to begin their day with a workout, and some choose to end theirs with a good sweat. Some run twice a month, some train daily. Nevertheless, all runners have one thing in common: passion and dedication. I have found that runners share a bond unlike the participants of other sports. When watching a race, I find myself cheering everyone on… I feel the excitement of the girls battling for first place. I understand the pain the girls feel while climbing a steep hill. I empathize with the girls struggling in the back of the pack, the sight reminding me of my first races. The decision to create a website about running, however, was not solely based on my love for running, but was also based on the bonds and relationships the sport can create. My dad and I have always seemed to clash- that’s the only word I can think of to describe our relationship in general over the past seventeen years. Somehow we failed to find anything in common and as I grew up, we grew farther apart. My dad just didn’t seem to understand or care about the small things that I cared about, including how he dressed. I even used my own money to buy him new shoes and a new shirt for his birthday, but he still managed to put together sloppy outfits while still incorporating the items I had chosen for him (It must be a talent of his). My dad, owner of a computer company, became really interested in marketing. Heading into my senior year of high school, he knew I would need a summer job and offered me the chance to help him develop a website. Since we would be working on this project together, it was important for the subject to be interesting to both of us. We started out developing a site targeting teenagers like me who are embarrassed by how their dads dress, but it didn’t take long for both of us to realize that there was no market and that it wasn’t the right subject to make us bond. We began brainstorming…What is the ONE thing we both have dedicated a lot of time to, something we both know something about? Running. My dad ran cross country for years and I’m a current captain of my cross country team. Yes, it had been awhile since my dad had moved faster than three miles per hour, but there was a lot I could teach him about running while he was teaching me about marketing. Finally, to get to my analogy….. Running has served as a bond for us even though we have little else in common. One thing is all it takes. I hope runners from all over the world, distance runners or sprinters, both the beginners and experienced, can sense that bond on fashionrunher.com. It is filled with passion and dedication, bringing all sorts of people together with one verb: Run.
